Renegade Craft Fair

Brooklyn’s 4th Annual Renegade Craft Fair takes over Williamsburg’s McCarren Pool this weekend.

The Renegade Craft Fair is a unique DIY event held 4 times a year in Brooklyn, Chicago, and San Francisco. RCF has gained a reputation over the last five years as being the biggest, best and the most well-known of all the DIY craft fairs out there. The Renegade Craft Fair is organized by Sue Daly, whose a crafter herself, and designs jewelry under the name Timber Handmade. The inspiration for RCF came when after college Sue found that no events were catering to the burgeoning DIY craft community so prevalent on the internet. She took matters into her own hands and started the first RCF in Chicago, 2003.

Now, with over 200 artists showing their wares you’ll find a heaps of creative handmade goodies ranging from comic books to craft kits, silkscreened posters to reconstructed clothing. Scoop up dresses from L’Onneau and stuffed animal taxidermy by Cherry Box while listening to Popshop DJ Squad playing tunes. Also participating in the Craft Fair are creative culinary confectioners Lefty’s Silver Cart, The Treats Truck, Wheeler’s Frozen Desserts, 1 Bite 7 Days and Mr. Softy.

The Renegade Craft Fair takes place Saturday and Sunday.
