SUCKA PUNCH

Weighing in at 16 oz and $4 a pop, the latest energy drink to hit your local health food store is GT’s Raw, Organic Kombucha (pronounced kom-BOO-cha).
This ancient Chinese Tea is cultured for 30 days, has one billion organisms and pretty much sounds like a modern day fountain of youth in a bottle.

It’s already the miracle elixir of choice among the Hollywood it-crowd including Drew Barrymore and Andy Dick but for some reason we’re not surprised. Check the pic below of Kirsten Dunst in US Weekly.

Regardless, it was the label that got me to fork over my 4 bucks and give it a whirl. Rejuvenate! Restore! Revitalize! Not only does it claim to give you more energy, it promises to decrease your appetite, improve digestion, give you healthier skin and hair, and strengthen your immune system. It’s also low in calories, vegan and kosher. You’d have to be a sucker NOT to try it!

So I popped a bottle of Cosmic Cranberry. Poof! It fizzed and bubbled as a white cloud appeared and left leaving a stench similar to when you forget to take out your kitchen trash for too long. Not to mention the purple, slimy floaties swirling around. Anyhow, I knocked it back and was pleasantly surprised by the not-too-sweet, crisp and refreshing taste. Within minutes I felt a rush of energy and swear I saw my hair grow!

The verdict: If you’ve got an extra $4 to spend, buy a Kombucha.
Available at Whole Foods or your local health food grocer, sucka.
