There’s a ripe new collection of jewelry that’s making quite a statement in its mission to empower women.
Folasade Ologundudu, owner and designer of Ripe Jewelry NYC worked as an intern at various companies in her early years before finding her niche in jewelry design. She interned at The International Center of Photography for 2 years and jewelry company Bijules before unveiling her first collection at The Golden Hanger pop-up shop on the Lower East Side in 2007.
Simplistic while remaining complex in design and harmonious to the eye, Ripe Jewelry offers a full collection of sterling silver and 14k gold plated pendants and earrings. Each piece finds inspirations in the female figure, molded into silhouettes of women in sexy, provocative, or coy poses.
“I wanted to bring a little bit of shock power while also conveying the message to women to own your sexuality. A lot of women are empowered while others feel they can’t own it, I want to let women feel empowered.”
Fans of Ripe NYC jewelry already include Kid Cudi (Fool’s Gold) and it will be featured in the next Mickey Factz ft. the Cool Kids “Rockin’ and Rollin’” video. Be on the look out!
