Imagine a whole magazine dedicated to just one person with mini interviews and Q&As with that said person’s circle of friends… Each issue of the magazine would be about getting to know that person as they fill in as guest editor, choosing their own photographer and friends to feature. Of course, there’d be no other title as appropriate as ME!
Launched in the autumn of 2004, Me Creative Director and Founder Claudia Wu picks one lucky guest editor, preferably someone who’s “doing interesting things and who isn’t completely over-exposed yet” and allows that person the freedom to put together a personal and insightful issue including their circle of friends or people who are important to them. (You’re known by the company you keep!) Of course, the star editor gets a longer, more biographical interview to satisfy our curiosity, painting a full picture of him or her — which includes finding out what their friends think of them!
Guest editors for Me so far include artist Joshua Abelow, United Bamboo’s Miho Aoki, Rivington Arms‘ owners Mirabelle Marden and Melissa Bent, and featured in the latest #11 Spring 2007 issue is fashion designer Thakoon.
