Designer Alexandra Cassaniti releases her summer collection, making us want to layer on her goodies just to claim we were the first! Cassaniti’s quirky hand painted artwork is printed on soft, oversized tees as well as on wallets, bags, backpacks, and even surfboards! It’s totally on the mark and exactly what we are jonesing for.
The artist/designer went to art school at The Art institute of Chicago and Pratt, majoring in printmaking and cultural studies but it was her grandmother that taught her to sew when she was 12, and she’s been doing it ever since. “My grandmother was a huge influence on me”, she states, “very fashion forward, very awesome.” Cassaniti worked for Judi Rosen for several years, and more recently designed the woman’s line for Steven Alan before officially starting her own brand in October of last year. All of Alexandra Cassaniti’s products are constructed by hand in the USA, limited edition, functional, comfortable, prudent and true.
Along with backpacks and totes, this Summer’s collection features an extended line of bags and accessories with two new prints- the Hairy print and painted stripes. Also being introduced is a line of wetsuits and our favorite piece, a neoprene beret. “Wear it on the strets, and then straight to the beach!”
