Just when we thought ultimate hipsterdom couldn’t get any more kitsch, we stumbled into The Gutter.
Located in Williamsburg (or Greenpoint, depending on the cartographical interpretation), the dimly lit bowling alley and bar boasts eight lanes and 12 beers on tap, which should fight your ennui. The lanes fill up fast so your best bet for landing one is to arrive early and buy your games for the entire evening to ensure dibs for the whole night. If you’re waiting around or just there to take in the scene, lounge at the bar under beer-sponsored Tiffany lamps. To amend your experience and fuel for the competitions ahead, the bartender keeps a binder full of delivery menus if you’re hungry for more than the proffered chips and beef jerky. The Gutter’s salvaged bowling equipment may not please an aficionado but will certainly help glamourize a gutter ball.
The Gutter is open until 4am every day, giving you plenty of time to fit in a game. Before 8pm games are $6, $7 after, with shoe rentals at $2. The Happy Hour runs til 8pm and after 1am Monday-Thursday with $1 off drafts and well drinks, and $3 off of pitchers- losers have no excuse to not buy the next round!
