I hope you all got your pick of the Chloe Sevigny x Opening Ceremony collection. It’s in stores and really cute… go cop some liberty prints. We were in Vegas for a week last month documenting the Camp Beverly Hills relaunch, Brooke Nipar shot the catalog, check for it soon. We also got acquainted with fellow blogger, Wendy Lam, aka Nitrolicious, check the shot of us at last week’s Haze MD event here. Jennifer Garcia’s “We Are Familia” project is currently going on at Colette, Farah and Dana launched their brand- A Peace Treaty- last week, and Khalym’s Art Ratz project is in full swing.
As for Worship Worthy, we’re slowly but surely getting our office in order, just ebaying a gorgeous set of vintage chairs to accomodate our guests. We just finished a huge design project which will be release worldwide, we’ll let you know about it once it’s released. And, you might’ve seen our March press in LTD and the Fader magazine. Haaaail Mary!
It’s the last month of 2007. My computer hard drive crashed just before Thanksgiving and I lost pretty much everything from the last 3 years of my life, all my music, and photos… And life goes on!
One benefit of a clean hard drive is an upgraded look to this month’s Hail Mary. Let’s start by making sure you saw the New York Times Style section last week. DJ Lindsey, Justine D, and a few other fashionable ladies in the limelight. I sorta want to keep this one a gem but if you haven’t been to one of the Deadly Dragon Sound events at Happy Ending, you’re really missing out on some of the best live reggae music scenes in New York- mixing the best in new and old school talent. MadeMe and Valley had their collection preview and 1-year anniversary party with major celeb spotting- Kelis, Nas, Beyonce, Jay-Z at the after party at Gold Bar. Women’s streetwear brands- newbies MadeMe, Yours Truly, along with usual suspects MOB, Hellz Bellz and Mama got some love on Nylon magazine’s online newsletter. Happy Birthday, DJ Elle! If anyone out there is looking for catering or cooking classes, reach out to Sam Kim who’s been hooking it up at various events at the PowerHouse Arena and last month’s Haze Studio Grand Opening.
Worship Worthy also got a bit of press in NYLON this month so make sure to check it out here. We’re also getting ready to launch our small online shop. Shout to Olivia Malone for the awesome photos.
Remember, we’re always taking nominees to our list, send them to: nominate*at*worshipworthy(dot) com.
Have a great rest of 2007, and see you soon in ‘08! Hallelujah and Haaaail Mary!
Hail Mary! It’s July 1st, 2007. This month we’ve made one major change to our Hail Mary list. We’ve created our Hail Mary Hall of Fame, where we’ve retired all the ladies that have appeared on our #1 spot- Carol Lim, Jauretsi Saizarbitoria, Claw Money, Michelle Siwy, Roxy Cottontail and Santi White- in order to make room for more women to appear on our list! The actual page will be up in a few days so make sure to check back.
June had a handful of exciting events spread across the boards. Congrats to Leah McSweeney and Rob who welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Kier! Angela Boatwright (along with Patrick O’Dell, also featured on our site!) showed their “200 Troubled Teenagers” photography exhibit at LA’s downtown Standard Hotel, she also had a nice spread in Nylon Guys this month, make sure to check it out. DJ Lindsey’s Fader Suite 903 CD just dropped, Vashtie recently wrapped a video she directed for Armand Van Helden, and once again, the ladies of Studio B. and Fun drew one of the best party crowds at their Roller Derby disco a couple weeks ago.
As for Worship Worthy, we’ve been hard at work, planning a few new exciting projects which you’ll soon be hearing about. We also had a robbery in our studio that oddly ended before we realized that my computer and wallet were stolen! The perpetrator was caught and I fortunately got all my belongings back. I’m marking that one down as good kharma and passing it on to all of you!
We’ve had more new nominees this month, though only one newcomer made our list. With our Hall of Fame there’s lots more room for more women to be featured, so make sure to nominate your favorite downtown lady New Yorker!
Here it is. Hail Mary and good kharma!

Time flies when the weather’s a tease! Or maybe it’s because I spent a good part of March in an office freelancing that I feel like I missed a couple weeks last month. Anyhow, we’re getting ready to expand our audience as we just got invited to join that certain online blog community of artists and brands… if you don’t know what I’m talking about you will real soon.
Also, we have another week-long feature in April showcasing a certain group of movers and shakers that we feel are a bit under-repped. Check back in a couple weeks to find out more.
As far as the ladies on the Hail Mary list this month, Carol Lim and the Opening Ceremony family just opened their Los Angeles location, Claw’s been travelling worldwide celebrating the drop of her new book- if you haven’t seen it yet, pick up a copy at a bookstore near you… As usual, Roxy’s also been jetsetting, continuing on her mission of fearless self-promotion, and our girl Santi a.k.a. “Santogold” has a nice spot between the pages of the new issue of Missbehave. We somehow forgot to mention last month that Santi made a guest appearance performing alongside Spankrock on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Check out the footage of their performance here. Also, a huge congratulations to Angela Yee and her new show “Lip Service” on Shade 45 Sirius Satellite Radio every Monday night.
Here’s April’s rundown of New York women that we admire. The “Rules”:
There are 10 possible points in each of the criteria:
1. Job/Occupation
2. Personal Style
3. Personality/Friendliness
4. Visibility in the Last Month
5. Overall Admiration
Highest possible score is 50.

It’s March! We’ve found ourselves sittin’ around waiting for the last snowfall and anxiously anticipating the first signs of spring. Lots has happened in the last month- Fall 2007 fashion shows took place around the globe, Jennifer Hudson won a Golden Globe AND an Oscar, Britney went crazy!
Lots of big things also went down with the ladies on our Hail Mary list. Jauretsi’s film “East of Havana” was extended another week at the IFC theatre, Claw’s book was officially released on PowerHouse Books, Roxy was racking up the milage gaining visibility spinning at parties alongside Steve Aoki and DJ AM. Malia Sias and her man rendezvous’d in Tokyo and spent some time doing a few collaborations on the streets of Harajuku, Leah McSweeney dropped a MOB x MCM collaboration and had the full front window at famed retailer, Collete. And, last but certainly not least, we welcomed into the world the newborn boy of Samantha and Adrian Moeller. Congratulations to everyone! What an impressive group of women!
As for us at Worship Worthy… well, our readership has doubled in the last month and the number of subscribers is growing rapidly we purchased some new software for bulk emails! It’s guaranteed to be one of the best of the year so we hope you already RSVPed.

Like all of you fashion fiends, we LOVE the revival of the high-waisted jean, we admit- we’re obsessed. Grey Ant, Judi Rosen, Imitation of Christ and Cheap Mondays all sit beautifully folded on my shelf making my treasured wardrobe feel complete! Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better I discovered one more brand that I MUST have… Odyn Jeans.
Launched in the Fall of 2005, they’re a bit of a combo of all the best parts from each of the brands we already love with some refreshing detailing and an affordable pricetag retailing between $168-$209. I’m already envisioning my Farrah Fawcett inspired looks in their faded sailor jean and the dark denim shorts, definitely my summer staples- t-shirts and beater tanks tucked in! If it’s still a bit too forward for you opt for their best seller: the Swan super long skinny leg in the dark “Roxy” rinse.
This brand is doing it sooo right that they’re already launching a Men’s collection and another ladies line, Blank, due to debut next month. Be on the lookout!
Their website launches in a about a week so make sure to check it out: www.odynjeans.com. For now check them out here.
Odyn jeans are available at Henri Bendel and Poppy.

Tonight is legendary producer Dante Ross’ “Salty Crackers” Party… (You tryin’ to tell us somethin’, D?) Anyways! The party will probably be a nice semi-lowkey soiree so swing on through. Might even be a nice place to bring a date… No Crumbs!
Hey, hey! It’s February 1st! My how time flies when you’re enjoying a new year. We hope you guys are still sticking to your New Year’s resolutions, I know I am! Sugar only on Saturdays- it’s workin’ out just fine.
I’m really starting to look forward to the end of each month as me and the other Hail Mary panelists all get together over brunch and talk about how great each and every one of the nominees are! In case you were wondering the panel now consists of five lovely New York ladies varying in age and social circle, we try to keep it as diverse as possible. During the month of January we had quite a few really good nominees brought to our attention and surprisingly there were some that I feel shoulda been on our list a long time ago. Needless to say, we have five newcomers on our list for the month of February.
Here’s a brief rundown of what went down in January:
If you’re a Worship Worthy disciple then you know what’s been happenin’ with Jauretsi- Her movie “East of Havana” premieres in New York’s IFC theatre this month and she had an awesome full page interview in the latest Jane Magazine. Opening Ceremony had a huuuge sample sale a couple weeks back and starting this Friday will be open for a four day Proenza Schouler for Target early release- that’s visibility points for co-owner Carol Lim. And if you’ve spent some time in Brooklyn recently you might have noticed the pairs of 20″ wheat-pasted googly eyes checkin’ you out care of Malia Sias. Way to make some noise, ladies!
There are 10 possible points in each of the criteria, here they are:
1. Job/Occupation
2. Personal Style
3. Personality/Friendliness
4. Visibility in the Last Month
5. Overall Admiration
Highest possible score is 50.
Here’s the top 10 (plus 5!) list of downtown lady New Yorkers that we ADMIRE! Make sure to click on each of the ladies’ photos for more info.
A couple more things- Starting Monday, February 12th, in celebration of Valentine’s Day we have a very special Couples Week featuring five of our favorite New York couples! Make sure to check back to see if your favorite lovebirds are on it! Also, keep your ears open for some exciting Worship Worthy news at the end of this month. We look forward to seeing you all real soon…
HAIL MARY!…Full of grace…

Happy Brand Spankin’ New Year! We hope you had an enjoyable evening no matter what your definition of fun is. We spent all night mashin it up at our friend Gaby’s outdoor dancefloor til the sun came up!
In the new year we have five newcomers to our Hail Mary! list largely due to a new category we added to our criteria- “Visibility in the Last Month.” With this addition we predict that the movement of the “candidates” from one month to the next will be much more dramatic. If you caught Kate Moss wearing your denim in the tabloids as did Michelle Siwy, spanned the Atlantic to perform a few European gigs and were nominated for two Nightlife Awards by Paper magazine a la “Oxy Cottontail”, or, like Jauretsi, have a buzz of anticipation going about your directoral documentary debut releasing in New York this month then you were scoring high in this category.
Other news this past month: Gaby Lardizabal (always a high scorer in “friendliness”) makes a move back to Supreme as Production Manager, Claw’s book “Bombshell: The Life and Crimes of Claw Money” is set to release at the end of February, Joanne Carolino celebrated her birthday in true party-girl style, DJ Elle’s Justo Mixtape nomination for best female mixtape, and Leigh Lezark’s full page in Vogue. Looks like fresh faced Lezark is on the path to becoming the new “it” girl… The Chloe Sevigny of the next generation?
Once again, the criteria:
1. Job/Occupation
2. Personal Style
3. Personality/Friendliness
4. Visibility in the Last Month
5. Overall Admiration
New highest possible score is 50.
Also, for the first time we have a 3-way tie for 9th, 10th, and 11th place, there’s just so many amazing women who inspire us! If you’re new to this and want more details, click here.
Here we go, the top 10 list of downtown lady New Yorkers that we ADMIRE! Make sure to click on each of the ladies’ photos for more info.
Happy New Year and Haaail Mary!

Check back for the Confessional every other Monday when we turn the spotlight on one of our Hail Mary listers.
Salvation Army bells ring, it’s that time of year! We love the holiday season, parties are now kicking in to full swing… Every company that you’ve worked for, every place that you’ve freelanced and even the “agency” that has landed you the occassional two week gig plays host to their deserving hard hats. Your man’s friends each own their own company and your girls are feeling the mistletoe spirit so you’re booked for at least three nights every week til New Year’s Eve…
We’re kickin’ it off tomorrow night at Complex Magazine’s PREMIUM GOODS soiree. It’s a “special exhibition of premier apparel, footwear, gadgets and product” all hand picked by the Complex editors. And, judging by the sponsors on the flyer- Lexus, Swagger, PRPS, Stussy, and more- there’s a good chance this could be the one with the ultimate gift bags! If they’re raffling off a Lexus LX I’ll be doing my best to intoxi-coax the other party go-ers into forking over their winning tickets… Sex face? Check!
Again, it’s another “invite only” event but we’re spreading the news anyway ‘cuz we know you’d rather hear about it beforehand than find out about it a day later.
Check the flyer for more details on what you might be missing! ‘Tis the season.
