Tim Barber Mystic Heather & Virgin Snow at the LOLA Gallery
LOLA New York proud to announce the opening of Tim Barber’s solo show; Mystic Heather & Virgin Snow, Saturday, August 22nd from 5 to 9pm. The exhibition will feature thirty original photographic prints, and the accompanying book will be available for the duration of the show. The LOLA Gallery is located at 85 Jobs Lane in Southampton, New York.
About Tim Barber
Tim Barber grew up in Amherst Massachusetts, lived for a few years in the mountains of Northern Vermont, went to school in Vancouver B.C. and now lives in New York City. A photographer, curator, publisher and designer, Barber runs the online gallery www.tinyvices.com, where visitors are encouraged to submit their photographs and artwork. He launched the independent publishing house TV Books in 2008 (www.tvbookshop.com), producing unique books, artists monographs, zines and posters and has recently curated a series of five photography books published by the Aperture Foundation.
About LOLA New York
LOLA New York is named in honor and loving memory after an abandoned, overgrown plot of land known as Lola Prentice Memorial Park. Using stolen wood from construction sites of nearby houses, a home-made skate-park rose out of nowhere within a month. It was organized, run and enforced by dozens of twelve and thirteen year olds. The park became a legendary refuge and playground for unsupervised youths. Around 1998 it became too popular and boisterous and the police decided shut it down unannounced; destroyed the ramps, dumping gravel over the park and building a police station on the grounds.
Through the designs, music, artwork, events & clothing the values of Lola Prentice Memorial Park: loyalty, freedom, creativity and camaraderie are able to live on and blossom.
